Together Spay it Forward envisions a world with no more euthanasia due to space in overcrowded shelters. Our mission is to eliminate dog and cat overpopulation through spay/neuter services while educating the community to care responsibly for their pets. Over these past three years, Together Spay it Forward has provided almost 1000 FREE spay/neuter surgeries to Kern County - preventing the births of hundreds of unwanted puppies and kittens, and we continue to work to increase that number to two thousand surgeries and beyond.
In 2024, Together Spay it Forward endeavors to establish a veterinary surgical center in Kern County, complemented by continuous education for pet owners, ensuring the optimal physical well-being of their cherished animals.
We firmly believe that our actions toward animals reflect our individual and societal values. At Together Spay it Forward, we affirm the significance of animals, treating pets as integral family members. We invite you to join us in partnership, working together to enhance the welfare of animals in our community.
Set up a veterinary surgical center in Kern County, staffed adequately to provide essential care for dogs and cats during spay and neuter surgeries.
Additionally, we will provide ongoing education to pet owners, ensuring the proper physical well-being of their beloved animals.
The Need:
Since 2021, there has been a shift in Kern County shelters, transitioning from a no-kill policy to euthanasia as a result of overcrowded conditions. The current economic challenges have created growing difficulties for pet owners in adequately meeting the physical needs of their animals.
JR and Susie Jones have made Kern County their home for more than six decades, with a deep dedication to their community. JR leads the JOSCO Construction Company, while Susie is a partner & officer in the Construction business. A former ER nurse at KMC hospital, Susie now actively participates in diverse local nonprofits, including shelters and other local dog rescues. Their philanthropic initiatives gained traction five years ago when they connected with advocates for animal rescue. This is not a new adventure for Susie as she was a rescue in her younger years, living in the country and caring for lost dogs long before social media could reunite dogs with owners. Recognizing the growing need to address the well-being of the local pet population, JR and Susie seized the opportunity to blend their business and medical expertise, establishing a nonprofit to tackle this issue. Since the inception of Together Spay it Forward in 2021, they have effectively spayed/neutered nearly 1,000 dogs and cats, substantially impacting the community's animal welfare.
Your support and contributions will eliminate dog and cat overpopulation through spay and neuter services.
